EJSC 2016 - Hódmezővásárhely has been considered to be a successful host
Hódmezővásárhely has been considered to be a successful host by the participants of the 43rd Junior European Swimming Championship
The 43rd Junior European Swimming Championship was preceded by several months of severe preparation and construction work in Hódmezővásárhely. As a result, the town could successfully host an international championship.
Hódmezővásárhely was such a venue for the European Championship like no other towns ever before. I have attended Junior European Championships for 11 years and this present one is 'years ahead' compared to the previous ones. If I think back of the European Championship in the Margit-Island, Budapest, it had similar quality; but really, in Vásárhely there was no such request what they could not have fulfilled and without this, the Hungarian performance would not have been that good, either – highlighted Iván Petrov, the head coach of the Hungarian swimming junior national team
According to the expert, as a result of the successful organisation of the European Championship, more and more teams can choose this town as the venue of their preparation. The smooth execution of the organisation was helped by almost 150 volunteers.
Their attitude was super and the foreign teams unanimously emphasized the dedicated work of the volunteers. Let me express my thankfulness and grace in the name of the local government, the teams and myself - stressed Sándor Bán, the coordinator of the volunteers.
According to several opinions, the quality of the junior tournament of Vásárhely in many ways has exceeded that of the Adult European Championship in London. As for Ákos Tóth, the director in charge of the European Championship, the organisation must be praised and not out of politeness.
I do mean that the organisation was at the highest quality. I have been all over the world since the 1970's. I have gone not only to Junior European Championships, but to World Championships and Olympics, too thus it is based on comparison. In my opinion this European championship in Vásárhely has been among the bests. I would risk saying that if there was a bigger grandstand here, even a world championship could be organised -said Ákos Tóth, the professional vice-president of the Hungarian Swimming Association.
750 competitors participated in the European Swimming Championship, and the Gyarmati Dezső Sport Swimming Hall has also brought luck to the Hungarian swimmers, they have won 12 medals altogether.
